Visual activities increase greatly in the school years. Every child must be visually ready to face these new school challenges. However, a simple eye exam does NOT test all the visual skills necessary for school needs, such as reading and writing. For this purpose, more specific pediatric ophthalmological assessment tests are required.
The school readiness department is the only specialized one in Greece and Cyprus. Checks children before and after they enter primary school. It uses internationally recognized tests, such as the NIKO EYE TEST and the EYE RADAR.
